God can use you for great things.
Scripture Reference: Read Joshua Chapter 2
Background: In the second chapter, Joshua sends 2 spies to Jericho, where they are almost caught,
except a prostitute named Rahab hides the men from the city officials. She has heard of their God that
has helped them to cross the Red Sea, and win great battles. She decides to help them if they will spare
her and her family. The spies make an oath with her that no one in her house shall die as long as she
keeps the rope outside her window as a sign to all of Israel.
There are several things we can take from this chapter the first being that when Joshua was about to take
the city of Jericho, he did not go in “Guns a blazin’”. He actually did some research on the city, he sent
spies. When God asks us to do something we should probably do our homework and have knowledge
about the task he wants us to do. Secondly, because Joshua was willing to do his homework, he was able
to gain the support of one woman and her family, and in return she and her family were spared. God used
this woman, a prostitute, to aid Israel in their conquest of Jericho. Because she was willing to be used of
God, He did just that! He used Rahab in a mighty way, not only did she help the spies, she helped her
family, and she became a great woman, as she is listed in Hebrew chapter 11 as one of the Great Heroes
of Faith and in Matthew chapter one, as an ancestor of King David and Jesus! That’s right Jesus’, great,
great, great, great, great grandmother (you get the picture) was Rahab, a prostitute that decided to let
God use her in a wonderful way!
No matter who you are or what you have done I want you to know that God loves you and wants to use
you. If you will love God and let Him guide you He may just use you and your children in greater way than
you could have ever dreamed.
